Remix
2003
16 video artists + 1 hour of music television = a whole new perspective on the nations music station
August 29th, 11PM, SAW Courtyard, 67 Nicholas St., Ottawa, Ontario
Presented by SAW Video as a part of the Galerie SAW Gallery Art Star Video Biennial
This is the second annual Remix event (see 2002), and this year we have chosen to use the nation's music station as our artists source material. Much Music holds a strange place in the hearts of many people in our generation as this station welcomed us through adolescence with a whole new view of the television landscape. Music videos have come a very long way since the early days of Denise Donlan and the New Music, but we have watched them grow and change with horror and delight.
This years Remix has chosen a target which has undoubtedly influenced almost every artist we have sought to participate in this program, even if only in opposition to the over edited world of the music video. The project then becomes a chance for each of these artists to dialogue with this national icon, and hopefully the end result will range from soft loving cuts to edits growing out of the spite for how the music video has changed us all.
