Frank Shebageget

My focus on historical and contemporary intercultural history attempts to locate positive connections that have been established between native and non-cultures, without falling into tropes of stereotypical issues about native culture. This conceptual framework speaks to both the historical and contemporary relevance to both native and non-native identity in Canada.

Frank Shebageget was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, in 1972. He is of Ojibway heritage. He received his Masters in Fine Arts from the University of Victoria, in 2000, specializing in Sculpture and graduated with his A.O.C.A in 1996, from the Ontario College of Art, in Interdisciplinary Studies. Shebageget's work is included in the collections of the Canada Council Art Bank, Ottawa; Dorothy Hoover Library, Ontario College of Art, Toronto; and the Aboriginal Achievement Foundation, Toronto.
