Nicole Crozier ‘Second Impressions’ A Visual Dialogue With the Play ‘Circle Mirror Transformation’ by Annie Baker
May 22 – June 30, 2012
Vernissage: Thursday May 24, 6‐8 p.m.
The Fritzi Gallery is privileged to present new works by Ottawa artist, Nicole Crozier.
Circle Mirror Transformation shows us the humorous antics of five people taking an adult drama class. “The exercises they perform, however, are not just funny, but also reveal to the audience the characters’ lives external to the classroom: they transform each other and evolve from flat comedic cut outs to being fully fleshed out, believable individuals”, says Crozier. According to the artist, a similar kind of transformation is happening in her work. “Removed from time and place within the frame of the scanner, these portraits are no longer just an external image of someone’s face but contain an inward looking, psychological depth. For me they represent who we are when we are alone, unspeakable thoughts and dreams, who we might be outside definition and language.”
Please join us Thursday May 24, from 6-8 p.m., for the opening of the exhibit Second Impressions and to meet the artist.
Nicole Crozier is an emerging artist, currently in her third year of the BFA program at the University of Ottawa. She currently works in the media of both photography and painting. Check out images of her work at: http://nicolecrozier.posterous.com
