Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner (2001)

Directed by and starring filmmaker Zacharias Kunuk, Atanarjuat is the first feature-length film to be written, acted and directed entirely in the Inuktitut language. Based on an ancient Inuit legend, the film retells an epic tale of betrayal, revenge and crime that ruptures the trust in a small arctic community.

The program is a co-production of TIFF, Library and Archives Canada, the Cinémathèque Québécoise, and The Cinematheque in Vancouver, and is made possible by TIFF's presenting partners, the Government of Canada, RBC, the Government of Ontario, and supporting partner Telefilm Canada.
