Monday March 12, 6pm / Free / Accessible
Ottawa Public Library, Main Branch Auditorium, 120 Metcalfe St, Ottawa, ON K1P 5M2
Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) and ArtWise OAG’s volunteer council of older adults invite the public to attend a lively and informative conversation between two Ottawa artists, Shaukat Chaney and Sarah Jaworski, who share an interest in the science and technology of facial reconstruction. Proudly presented in partnership with the Ottawa Public Library.
With a BFA in Fine Art, Sarah Jaworski went to Dundee, Scotland for a MSc. in Forensic Art and Facial Identification in 2015. Here she learned to create post mortem facial approximations from skulls, draw composite sketches from witness interviews, as well as other forensic and identification techniques.
Shaukat Chaney’s education in painting and sculpture was part of his training in prosthetic dentistry, which involves the reconstruction of teeth, jaws and other facial structures at the University of Minnesota and the University of Saskatchewan in the 70s and 80s. After a full-time career as a prosthodontist, he now pursues his interest in painting and creating stone sculptures. Chaney is represented by Koyman Galleries.
