Job Posting: PAL Ottawa - Communications and Fundraising Coordinator

Communications and Fundraising Coordinator
Part-time – 12-month contract position
(with option to renew)

Start Date: April 3, 2018
Fee: $25/hour, 41 hours per month average

PAL Ottawa is a non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to provide seniors in the Capital who work(ed) in the arts sector with affordable housing and personal support in a creative, caring community. It was founded in 2012 as the eighth chapter of the PAL Canada network. PAL Ottawa is run by a volunteer Board of Directors and has solid support from members, donors and many of Ottawa’s key arts organizations. PAL Ottawa seeks to engage a part-time contractor to work with the Board and Committees on communications and fundraising activities. This role involves planning and implementing work related to communications, events and fundraising led by volunteer committees. This includes: promotion campaigns for all PAL Ottawa activities, maintaining website content, writing newsletters and promotional emails, letter writing and other support to fundraising activities and assisting the contract Administrator with maintenance of database of members, donors, community contacts.

Qualifications:
University or College Diploma, or equivalent work experience
2+ years related communications and/or fundraising experience preferably in the arts
Strong Communication skills in English (oral and written) (French would be an asset)
Solid computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite, WordPress, MailChimp, Eventbrite and basic databases.
Capable to work independently as well as collaboratively with volunteers
Must be able to work from a virtual office with your own computer and internet.

This position requires:
o Strong people skills and the ability to adapt and work with others, deal with volunteers, the local arts community, donors and members
o Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
o A flexible work schedule.
