Over the past twenty-five years, following on the heels of consciousness-raising and feminist awareness, contemporary art practice throughout the West has endorsed personal experience. Not surprisingly, some Yukon artists turn inward and use the self as source to create their visual vocabularies: the hospitalized body (Graham), the domestic space (Melvin), and a repetitious iconography from the imagination (Polyck).
