Ava Christl - Journeying North
                  Oil on Canvas 68' 54'
Ava Christl understands landscape not only as a the physical place, but also as evidence of the passing of time. The dramatic change in seasons in the Yukon are represented in these large paintings. As Christl describes in her artist’s statement, summers are short and the long winter closes in quickly. Her poetic exploration through these paintings suggests the resonance of the land on her life.
